    Cheltenham

2.05 Verdana Blue, Dusky Legend and Coillte Lass all met at the Cheltenham Festival, where DL just finished in front of VB, although VB was more competitive throughout the race and the step up in trip should suit both. CL was a bit disappointing but has a first time tongue tie on today. Brillare Momento is also progressive and takes a big step up in class and Deauville Crystal who was a bet at Sandown, when she should have won and at Newbury, where she did at a decent price. Her form is on softer ground and she has a slightly round action but she should handle the ground and gets the 4 year old allowance.

2.40 Antartica De Thaix has improved massively of late as she has learned to settle better in her races. I think the best mare in the race is Briery Belle, who has disappointed the last twice against the boys at a very high level. She won on this card last year and a return to the form she showed earlier in the season would make her difficult to beat.

3.50 Lamb Or Cod won this in 2015 and is only 1lb higher today back on the better ground, another who will appreciate the better ground and is 3lbs lower than his last winning mark is Belmount, he could be interesting but I would rather see something a bit more positive first.

4.20 Solomn Grundy has been well bet back up in trip, which is understandable. I am not convinced Mr Clarkson will stay 3 miles, Two Swallows looks a bit more exposed now, Luccombe Down is interesting and he should be capable of winning if not today soon. Big Easy won on this race 4 years ago and Duke Street, I would forgive his last run at Aintree, where he was stuck down the inside and didn’t look to be enjoying it, cheek-pieces on today and I think he will stay.

4.55 Swincombe Scorchio should have been a bet last time and despite being raised 15lbs, this is different ground than he has raced on before.

    Taunton

7.30 I was interested in the returning Jaunty Inflight but not really at 2/1 as he has no form on such fast ground, I do think he can win again.

    Cheltenham

2.40 Voix D’Eau won this last year but will need a bigger performance today, I do have the utmost  respect for his trainer. Village Vic of his current mark it is proving difficult to win no matter how hard he tries, ideally he would prefer a bit more ease in the ground. Starchitect takes a drop in distance which should suit him. Henryville is difficult to win with and needs things to drop just right for him but these conditions suit and his mark is fair on some pieces of form. Art Mauresque often does well at this time of year but it is a similar story to VV regarding his handicap rating.

3.15 Divine Spear was beaten at this meeting last year but the step up in trip has really suited him, his form is solid and progressive and he should prove difficult to beat, ideally he would prefer softer ground. Drumcliff was not knocked about when his chance had gone at Musselburgh, we haven’t seen him since then and he remains a well handicapped horse with some potential, stepping up in trip should not be a problem for him and Its’afreebee hasn’t really taken to fences despite winning, things went badly for him at the festival and this is only his 2nd handicap appearance. He will appreciate being back over hurdles and decent ground, with his stable in red hot form all bodes well.

3.50 Doing Fine gets another chance and once again looks capable but makes no appeal from a win perspective at his price. Any Currency won this last year but didn’t appeal then and doesn’t today. Azure Fly could go well and has more in his favour, Troika Steppes had a great time of it in the autumn and has proved effective around here.  Fourth Act  is another who looks well handicapped but has questions to answer and Zerachiel is lightly raced over fences and should be suited by the style of the race but this is a big step up in grade, often over these long distances the class gulf can be closed.

5.30 We have bet Silverhow the last twice, when he won at Sandown and then last time at Uttoxeter when he was beaten by a horse that was difficult to make a case for. This better ground should suit him but this is a big step up in class against some in-form and progressive types. Poker School is improving well over fences but proved effective earlier in the season over hurdles. Copain De Classe has been a bit inconsistent but there is no doubting his talent. Lithic is better than last time and Red Tornado whilst not as well handicapped as last season he still ran well 20 days ago on his return from a break.

As unprofessional as it may be I am struggling a bit for time again today, as I am having an absolute nightmare with phone lines and computers today.

    Kempton

2.00 Zante well bet in first time headgear, Fixed Rate is improving not sure if the quicker ground is really what he needs, Focaccia well bred should prove better than he has shown so far, stable in red-hot form better ground should help, Passmore the dam was decent she has proved a bit disappointing so far but should improve at some stage and Kalaskadesemilley well bred interesting on debut for new stable who are in good form and drop back in trip is a good decision.

3.05 Ypsilanti back up in trip should have a better chance, Mango Cap debut for new stable on better ground is well handicapped on hurdles form, Clondaw Banker looks out of form, Breath Of Blighty was showing improved form last time out for a tongue tie.

Nothing apart from the blindingly obvious appeals at a very disappointing Exeter card and Ludlow is of more interest.

    Plumpton

2.35 Code Of Law gets another chance to show that he is a well handicapped horse under these conditions, his price is short but he was a similar price before being very well bet last time around here. Remember Forever has done well this season having won twice and running very consistently and Rude And Crude is probably better than he has shown but ultimately has been disappointing so far.

3.45 Another good renewal of this race, Caid Du Lin looked a very unlucky loser last time at Huntingdon, when he looked to be travelling the best when he unseated his jockey on landing over the last hurdle, his previous race at Fontwell has worked out really well, he effectively gave that race away. He will need to be on his best behaviour today as this is a better race, Song Light ran well in this race 2 years ago finishing 5th, and not beaten very far. He made his ground up around the outside, coming around the home bend that day and was value for a bit better. He has ran well this season but never got into the County Hurdle last time, first time cheek-pieces look a good addition. Tommy Silver has been running well of late, Maestro Royal has also had a good season winning twice and he also has first time cheek-pieces, which is understandable he has a high head carriage but there is nothing wrong with is attitude. Excellent Team was impressive when winning at Stratford last time in a novice hurdle, he has been raised 10lbs for that win, which looks harsh as I think a few that day were hoping they didn’t win, but he was the best by some way. Hint Of Mint another supporting first time cheek-pieces has won twice this season at Taunton, he has been difficult to train and if the ground was very fast you would imagine that would be against him. Finally Regulation has gone well around here and has the ground in his favour, he looks over priced but he is pretty exposed over hurdles and doesn’t win often enough, he is now a well handicapped horse who should be able to exploit that in a lesser race.

Out of time but have a good Easter.
